Having witnessed the growth and development of fighting game community commentary since 2011, I've noticed one particular expression has had tremendous staying power across commentary from professionals and novices.
The phrase is an analogy that is repeated so frequently, that it has influenced the way we think about risks and potentially self-destructive behavior in all fighting games. Have you ever heard a commentator or player say "he gave him enough rope to hang himself with?"
If the phrase has rubbed you the wrong way, then I think you'll be relieved to watch this video, in which I discuss why this analogy should not be applied to the behavior of fighting game players in their matches, and why the phrase just shouldn't be used in general.
